Newstead Village
Newstead Village, formerly Newstead Colliery Village, with a population of about 1200 is situated approximately 10 miles to the north west of Nottingham and within 3 miles of junction 27 of the M1 motorway.![]() Newstead is also the gateway to Newstead and Annesley Country Park which is an ongoing project and Newstead Abbey although there is no vehicular access from Newstead. The village is served with a number of transport options with a direct railway link to Nottingham and beyond, a regular bus service and situated in nearby Hucknall is the terminus for the Nottingham Express Transit (tram) with free parking facilities. There are a range of facilities which include a Community Centre, a Primary School, Surestart, a general store and sub post office, a Miners Welfare, a micro pub, bowling green and allotments. Additionally there are a number of organisations within the village providing various activities.
