Due to the current Covid-19 (Coronavirus) crisis Newstead Parish Council has cancelled all scheduled Parish Council Meetings until further notice. We will keep you informed when and how meetings will be resumed

Newstead Village


Newstead Village, formerly Newstead Colliery Village, with a population of about 1200 is situated approximately 10 miles to the north west of Nottingham and within 3 miles of junction 27 of the M1 motorway.The village benefits from its location and is surrounded by open countryside and woodlands. It has a number of designated ‘Sites of Importance to Nature and Conservation’ (SINC).

Newstead is also the gateway to Newstead and Annesley Country Park which is an ongoing project and Newstead Abbey although there is no vehicular access from Newstead.

The village is served with a number of transport options with a direct railway link to Nottingham and beyond, a regular bus service and situated in nearby Hucknall is the terminus for the Nottingham Express Transit (tram) with free parking facilities.

There are a range of facilities which include a Community Centre, a Primary School, Surestart, a general store and sub post office, a Miners Welfare, a micro pub, bowling green and allotments. Additionally there are a number of organisations within the village providing various activities.

Grant Application
Newstead Parish Council are inviting organisations within Newstead Village to apply for funding.
There are no deadlines. Applications are assessed by Newstead Parish Council at the next available meeting. Please allow up to two months for a decision.
Newstead Parish Council try to ensure that funding is allocated fairly and reserve the right not to fund a project.

Community Food Bank
A community food bank has been set up and serves Nuncargate, Kirkby Woodhouse, Annesley, Annesley Woodhouse and Newstead.

Should you wish to come for an Emergency Food Parcel please bring a referral form with you.
